Hailing district in Taizhou, East China's Jiangsu province, started progressive waste classification work in August 2020, where new waste classification practices are currently being explored.

As a pilot community, the Hanlin Yaju community in Jingtai Road sub-district, has developed a waste classification path that integrates Party guidance, property improvement, self-governance and social participation.

Yang Zhong, a resident of the community, arrived at the community's intelligent waste classification collection pavilions early in the morning on May 28, to guide residents to put their garbage in the correct categories.

"There are four such pavilions in our community and residents can open waste bins through facial recognition, which reduces exposure to pollution sources and simplifies the process," Yang said.

Another resident, Lin Shijun, is regarded as a good example for waste classification, with a total of six to seven waste bins in her home. "My family has a rule that all kinds of waste should be classified at home and unclassified waste is not allowed to be taken out," Lin said.

As a teacher, Lin often promotes the idea of waste classification to students and participates in community activities to instruct relevant knowledge.
