As the summer grain crop matures, 10 grain procurement areas in Hailing district of Taizhou city, East China's Jiangsu province, recently opened their warehouses to receive consignments.

As the biggest State-owned grain reserve business enterprise in the urban area of Taizhou – mainly responsible for central, provincial and municipal storage – Taizhou National Grain Reserve Co Ltd recently began its summer grain procurements program.

"Every procurement process is strictly monitored by personnel to ensure that the bulk density, moisture content and hygiene indicators of the purchased grain meet national standards," said Lu Jianzhong, head of the company's warehouse department.

The group mainly undertakes the task of grain storage in line with public policy, receiving nearly 1,000 metric tons of grain per day.

Cutting-edge grain protection technologies, such as mechanical ventilation, circulation fumigation and electronic temperature measurement, are being implemented to ensure the authenticity, quality and safe storage of reserve grain.

This year, Hailing's total cultivation area of summer grain hit 82,000 mu (5,467 hectares), mostly comprising 81,500 mu of wheat.

Hailing also promotes a procurement policy of "government guidance, market pricing, diversified subject procurements and high-quality and favorable prices" – enabling farmers to sell grain at good price points.
