An industry cluster has been formed in the grain base in the Gaogang district of Taizhou city – in East China's Jiangsu province – that integrates the processing of soybeans, rice, corn, edible vegetable oil, feed and others and also integrates grain logistics.
The base is located at the district's logistics park, which owns the only international container terminal in Taizhou.
The largest single grain, oil and rice processing base along the Yangtze River, it can process 2,600 metric tons of rice and 18,000 tons of soybeans every day.
Along a road there – stretching 3 kilometers – are the operations of 16 enterprises involved with the grain sector.
"Convenient transportation reduces procurement and logistics costs for product distribution between enterprises," said Zhu Haitao, deputy head of Gaogang district.
Taizhou and its northern areas are regarded as the main grain producing areas in Jiangsu.
The dock in Gaogang's grain industry base is an integral part of a huge facility that meets the demand for rapid grain loading and unloading. It's able to work 24/7 without any interruption.
The dock also uses advanced pneumatic grain suction machines to reduce the loss of any grain being handled.
With the settlement of different types of grain enterprises there, the grain logistics industry in Gaogang has developed rapidly.
