Hailing district of Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province is focused on improving traditional Chinese medicine or TCM through the construction of grassroots service capabilities.
The district began the process in recent years, which involves opening various TCM clinics at the doorsteps of its residents.
In Hailing district, the Chinese medical hall in the Chengzhong sub-district's community health service center has become popular.
"I have an old injury to my knee, which was so painful that I couldn't walk at home," said resident Wang Lihua. "Someone helped me come here and now I can walk well on my own after treatment," Wang added.
The community health service center in Chengzhong sub-district has vigorously developed TCM special diagnosis and treatment facilities, promoted suitable TCM technologies and applied them in the prevention and treatment of common, frequent and chronic diseases.
In addition, the center invested 380,000 yuan ($52,443) in March to improve its TCM external treatment service center, including expanding service projects and developing suitable technologies.

In particular, the center has taken the lead in introducing traditional Chinese medicine CT equipment throughout the city to provide better scientific testing and early prevention for patients.
"This can accurately predict potential risk factors and the direction of disease development," said Ding Yifan, a therapist at the center.
