The Jingtai night market in Hailing district in Taizhou city, East China's Jiangsu province, opened on June 25, attracting nearly 12,000 people and offering them plenty of novelty experiences.
Boasting 155 stands, the 5,000-square-meter night market provided a diverse range of delicacies including fruits, vegetables and barbecue dishes.

Transformed from idle land, the night market was co-built by the Zhutang, Suntang and Shilipu communities in Jingtai Road sub-district and has helped hundreds of people gain jobs and pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions.
"The night market boasts a high volume of traffic and a good atmosphere. Upon hearing that it needed more merchants, I immediately signed up," said one owner of a barbecue stand.
Additionally, each food stand has adopted gas explosion-proof pipes for the utmost safety. Local firefighters inspected the use of gas stoves, liquefied gas cylinders and hose installation, as well as disseminating fire safety knowledge to the public.
