The opening ceremony for the 2023 Happiness Hailing Tourism Festival was launched in the Hailing district of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – on April 12.
This year, Hailing is moving to upgrade its rural tourism, through the integration of its beautiful scenery and appealing local resources – including agriculture and its customs.
To expand its rural tourism, Hailing has created a health tourism area based on Qilin Bay, Xiangcao Bay and Qilin village.
Relying on its rapeseed flowers, water resources and other attractions, it is also building a new microvacation destination.
During the opening ceremony for the ongoing festival – which runs to May – a creative contest for Taizhou university students was also launched. It involves them visiting Hailing tourism hot spots and uploading short videos, pictures and travel notes to the social media.
At the opening ceremony, the Longxigang Ecological Health Tourism Area was officially recognized as the hometown of delicious gansi, or tofu threads.
