To celebrate the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival, a market event featuring the aesthetics of the Song Dynasty (960-1279) was held on Sept 15 in the Kouan to Port Carved Building Scenic Area, located in the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone in Taizhou city, East China's Jiangsu province.
In front of the ancient carved buildings, young women dressed in exquisite hanfu (traditional Chinese attire) and young men with carrying poles on their shoulders walked slowly along the bluestone road.
Festive lanterns filled the whole street, making many tourists stop to admire what was going on and to take photos.
Various Mid-Autumn Festival-themed stalls were lively and fascinating, offering activities and things as sugar painting, face painting and tree-root carvings.
By strolling around the market, visitors had the chance to taste fragrant cuisines, sip and taste tea and experience the production of exquisite and elegant ancient-style artifacts.
From the evocative old buildings to meeting people wearing ancient costumes, visitors unlocked mysterious chapters of the Song Dynasty and experienced a different kind of elegant adventure during the holiday.
