Anji bamboo products gain popularity in overseas markets
Rising summer temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere have boosted overseas demand for bamboo cooling products from Anji county, Huzhou, Zhejiang province, a major bamboo-producing area in China.
At Anji Jufeng Bamboo & Wood Craft Co, company head Sun Yongyi said bamboo mats treated through high-temperature carbonization offer better moisture absorption and a smoother surface, making them popular in Southeast Asian markets.
The company entered its export peak season in April, with orders increasing for bamboo bedding items such as mats and cushions.
Anji has more than 66,660 hectares of bamboo forests and a mature bamboo processing industry. As demand grows for bamboo products in the overseas home furnishing, construction, and decoration sectors, local companies are upgrading their designs and production methods.

A batch of outdoor bamboo flooring, produced by Anji Tianpeng Bamboo & Wooden Product Co, recently shipped to European markets, including Spain and Germany, for garden and courtyard projects.
Ma Xianming, head of Tianpeng, said bamboo can mature within three to five years and has attracted overseas customers due to its renewable and low-carbon features. The company's related product sales reached 100 million yuan ($14.83 million) in 2025.
Anji's bamboo industry recorded 20.5 billion yuan in output value last year, with more than 3,000 product types exported to over 30 countries and regions.
