Huzhou's online retails sales spike Jan-April

Huzhou's online retail sales volume surged by 16.5 percent year-on-year to 35.86 billion yuan ($4.95 billion) in the first four months of 2024, marking the third-highest growth rate in Zhejiang province.

Renowned as a national manufacturing hub for children's clothing, Zhili town in Huzhou saw its e-commerce sales for children's apparel reaching 11 billion yuan from January to April.

Huguangzhili (Huzhou) Fashion Co Ltd has undergone significant growth in its live-streaming business. Starting out with just three or four live-streaming rooms, the company now operates 11 such spaces hosting round-the-clock sales activities. Venturing into overseas cross-border commerce this year, the company has set its sights on the European and American markets, achieving a sales volume exceeding 2.5 million units from January to April, reflecting a 15 percent year-on-year growth.

Adapting to the live-streaming sales trend, local cosmetics brand OSM has successfully expanded its product offerings. In the first four months of this year, an OSM whitening essence product claimed the top spot in domestic sales rankings for whitening products on Douyin. The brand experienced a significant spike of nearly 50 percent in e-commerce sales in April alone.

A representative from the E-commerce Department of the Huzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce outlined their strategic plans for the future, emphasizing a commitment to conducting a series of e-commerce training programs and enhancing efforts to support enterprises and attract premium e-commerce projects.
