Anji county, located in Huzhou, Zhejiang province, announced on May 28 that it will allocate a fund exceeding 8 billion yuan ($1.1 billion) towards implementing 30 projects associated with the rural energy revolution.

The move follows the December 2023 inclusion of the county in a national program to pilot the rural energy revolution. Among the 15 counties (cities) selected nationwide, Anji stood out as the sole candidate in Zhejiang.

According to the latest program implementation plan unveiled by local authorities, Anji will undertake 30 major projects linked to the rural energy revolution, spanning diverse sectors such as photovoltaics, biomass, solid waste, natural gas, energy services, charging infrastructure, and electricity. The total investment is projected at 8.18 billion yuan, estimated to result in an increase in output value of around 1.65 billion yuan and a rise in tax revenue of 452 million yuan.

In recent years, Anji has effectively utilized its resource advantages to proactively recalibrate and enhance its energy mix, actively fostering green and sustainable energy solutions. Notably, the nation's first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) platinum-level carbon-neutral building, Yucun Impression, has been completed in Anji.

Situated in Anji's Yucun village, the complex was renovated from an old factory and consists of a library and an exhibition hall.
