Huzhou specialties win national recognition

Two specialties in Huzhou, Zhejiang province have been included in the National Directory of Famous, Special, and Superior New Agricultural Products, as recently announced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

One of the specialties is the Huangsang fish, scientifically known as Pelteobagrus fulvidraco, from Linghu town in Nanxun district.

The fish stands out with its long, strong, and scaleless body. It is often used to make fish soup by locals. The flesh of the fish, high in protein, is combined with bamboo shoots and shelled fresh shrimp to make for a delicious bowl of soup.

The other of the treasures is the "Yangdang" river crab from Changxing county. Cultivated in natural rivers and lakes called "Yangdang" by locals, the crab features a green shell, white belly, golden claw, and yellow fuzz. It is well-known for its large body, tender meat, and thick crab roe.
