Huzhou welcomes over 4m visitors over May Day holiday

Huzhou experienced a significant upswing in tourism during the just-concluded May Day holiday.

Data from local tourism authorities show that Huzhou's A-level scenic spots, hotels, rural attractions, and cultural venues welcomed over 4.67 million visitors during the holiday period, marking a 10.06 percent uptick compared to the same period in 2023.

Huzhou's Anji county and Deqing county were chosen as popular county-level tourist destinations for the May Day holiday by the online travel platform Ctrip.com.

According to monitoring data on visitor flow at key national tourist attractions, on May 1, Taihu Lake Longemont Paradise surpassed Shanghai's Disneyland, ranking first in visitor numbers among theme parks nationwide.

The Huzhou-based theme park has curated an entertainment lineup featuring a fashion show, fireworks display, a water dance performance, and other engaging experiences, attracting visitors from across the country. Over the five-day break, the park welcomed over 503,000 visitors, underscoring its rising popularity.

In addition, the city's cultural establishments, including libraries, museums, and galleries, hosted more than 480 activities such as exhibitions during the period. These diverse offerings aimed to cater to both local residents and visitors seeking varied travel options.
