Huzhou launches undifferentiated urban, rural areas campaign
The campaign launched by Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province to build undifferentiated urban and rural areas has gained traction in the city.
The campaign is part of the local government's broader push to facilitate common prosperity.
Numerous villages from Huzhou have achieved remarkable development in recent years, with the economic gap significantly narrowing between them and their urban counterparts.
One such example is Lu village, Bailidian town, Huzhou's Wuxing district.
The village has been selected to be the site for World Rural Tourist Town, a tourism complex in Huzhou that is expected to welcome 500,000 visitors in three years and generate 200 million yuan ($30.77 million) in tourism revenue.
The per capita disposable income of villagers is projected to surpass 42,000 yuan this year.
Houba village in Shuanglin town, Nanxun district has also seen rapid growth. The village covers an area of 2.9 square kilometers, with 481 households and a total population of 1,777.
It has seen tremendous changes in recent years thanks to measures taken by the government like developing homestays and modern agriculture to bolster rural revitalization.
In 2020, the village's collective income amounted to 2.06 million yuan, with the per capita disposable income of farmers reaching 38,736 yuan, up 106 percent and 50 percent respectively from 2016.
