A robot developed by an enterprise based in Huzhou's Nanxun district to supervise people in sorting household garbage debuted at the Light of Internet Expo.

The expo was held on the sidelines of the 2021 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit under the theme of "Toward a New Era of Digital Civilization - Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace", which kicked off in Wuzhen, East China's Zhejiang province on Sept 27.

The latest technologies of 343 companies from home and abroad are being showcased at the event.

The exhibited robot named "Xiao Rui" from Huzhou can realize real-time supervision of garbage sorting stations, as well as offer decision-making guidance based on technologies like artificial intelligence, edge computing, and big data.

Entering the market in 2020, the robots have been used in 145 residential communities in Huzhou, with service covering more than 50,000 people.

The conference also saw the signing of a series of investment deals for projects that will be established in Huzhou.

Among them were the two industry brains to be developed for the city's children's wear and power battery sectors, with an aggregate investment value of 50 million yuan ($7.69 million), as well as four "future plants" projects, with a combined investment of about 2.36 billion yuan.

Four companies from Huzhou were included in the provincial "future plant" pilot program in July.

The four companies were Zhejiang Dongtong Optical Network IoT Technology Co Ltd, Zhejiang Tianneng Power Energy Co Ltd, Geely Changxing New Energy Automobile Co Ltd, and Zhejiang Jiuli Hi-Tech Metals Co Ltd.
