Photoelectric industry gains traction in Nanxun

Huzhou's Nanxun district is seeing rapid growth in the photoelectric industry.
Zhejiang Dongtong IoT Technology Co Ltd, an optical cable manufacturer, exemplifies the fast development of the district's photoelectric industry.
All of the company's production lines are currently fully loaded to fulfill the growing market requirements. The produced optical cables will be used in the construction of 5G base stations in some cities in China.
Wei Dong, head of the equipment department at Zhejiang Dongtong IoT Technology Co Ltd, said that the company has seen robust growth in both market share and orders in recent years.
In the first half of this year, the company produced optical cables spanning a total length of 6.5 million kilometers, up 38 percent year-on-year.
Another example to demonstrate the photoelectric industry's development in Nanxun is the plant invested in by Zhuhai Wosun Photoelectric Technology Co Ltd.
With an investment of 11 billion yuan ($1.69 billion), the Wosun plant will have an annual capacity of 72,000 light-emitting and optical communication chips and 750,000 square meters of commercial transparent display panels after completion, with a combined output value of about 10 billion yuan.
The introduction of such projects has injected new vitality to the district's digital economy. Official data showed that the added value of above-designated-size enterprises in core manufacturing sectors in digital economy registered a year-on-year growth of 38.3 percent in Nanxun in the first half of the year.
