Huzhou retains title as safe city in Zhejiang

Huzhou was recently designated as a safe city in East China's Zhejiang province in 2020. This is the 14th time that the city has received this title.

Comprehensively it topped Zhejiang in terms of safety index, an indicator measuring a city's safety level, in 2020.

Data from the Zhejiang provincial bureau of statistics shows that the satisfaction rate among local residents toward public security in the city was 97.92 percent, ranking second in the province.

Last year, a total of 26,900 disputes of various kinds were investigated and resolved in Huzhou, securing a 98-percent satisfaction rate among those involved. Local authorities also launched inspections on 97,500 enterprises or public venues, identifying more than 430,000 hidden dangers.

The criminal cases and safety security cases reported in Huzhou in 2020 dropped 24.18 percent and 17.15 percent respectively.

The anti-fraud hotline 225000 was launched in the city, through which residents are encouraged to report cases to the police. Last year, nearly 1,098 high-risk telecom fraud cases were prevented since the launch of the hotline, saving more than 29.25 million yuan in public losses.
