Dongfeng Honda Wuhan Multifunctional Center, once the site of Dongfeng Honda's second factory, opened on July 16 and has been transformed into a dynamic hub that will also feature the Wuhan Auto World and a premium residential area.
Meanwhile, the Guoxuling area is being developed into the Houguan Lake Headquarters district, attracting over 20 major companies, including iFlytek and China Urban and Rural Construction Development Co.
This transformation is part of a broader Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) urban renewal effort, aiming to reshape the zone by repurposing outdated spaces for emerging industries, utilizing existing resources to create new growth opportunities, and fostering a symbiotic relationship between industry and urban living.
At the Wuhan Kexin Computing Center, part of the China Electronics Cloud R&D Base, rows of black server racks hum quietly as clusters operate at full capacity around the clock.
"In the first year of operation, the initial 100 petaflops of computing power reached a usage rate of over 90 percent, nearly maxing out our capacity," said Hu Chao, vice-president of China Electronics Cloud.
Previously a low-efficiency private tech industrial park dating back to the early 1990s, this site has been upgraded to serve as a crucial regional computing power service platform, supporting nearly 10 enterprises, including Neusoft Reach and Voyah Motors, as well as large model manufacturers and academic institutions.
Education, healthcare, and transportation facilities are also being upgraded: WEDZ No 3 Middle School is expanding, and the Tunyang Street Community Health Service Center is being upgraded.
Along the Nantaizi and Houguan lakes, idle wastelands and low-efficiency green spaces are being transformed into a 50-kilometer ecological greenway, providing 300,000 residents with access to premium amenities and offering 60,000 young tech talents a lively place to live and work.
