Roadshows were held for 28 smart manufacturing entrepreneurship projects, and a micro energy storage device project clinched gold.

"Compared to similar products from internationally renowned brands, our product offers higher reliability and efficiency," said Zhou Shilin, leader of the micro energy storage device.

This project originated from the Nano Key Laboratory at Wuhan University of Technology. After nearly a decade of research and development, a chip-based micro energy storage device and a new generation micro power supply system have been developed, addressing problems caused by the poor performance of energy storage modules in IoT components, including low lifespan, high prices, and high energy consumption.

It provides a Chinese solution for powering miniaturized and flexible smart electronic products. The project has now entered the small-scale production stage.

"Many of my alumni have chosen to start businesses or work in WEDZ. It is a major driver of Wuhan's economy, and all my team members have decided to work here,” said Zhou.

The competition involved nearly 100 smart manufacturing projects from more than 10 universities, and the first, second and third prize winners of the quarter-final will move on to the final and receive 500,000-yuan ($69,650) awards.
