About WFE

Updated: 2017-10-26

The World Fly-in Expo, or WFE for short, is scheduled to take place in Wuhan, central China's Hubei province from Nov 4 to 7. This is the first time for China to hold such an expo, and from now on it will be regularly held.

The 2017 WFE will be co-host by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, the Aero Sports Federation of China, the government of Wuhan, and the Hubei Administration of Sports. Prepared by the Administrative Committee of the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (Hannan) district government and the Wuhan Sports Bureau, the expo is themed "The vast sky, we fly together".

The four-day expo is divided into three parts - performance, matches and experience. All the activities will take place at the Hannan General Aviation Airport in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (Hannan) in Hubei province.

Altogether, 788 aircrafts of various kinds will be displayed at the scene, of which 588 will perform flights and 200 will be on static display. The expo will also attract more than 1,000 pilots, sportsmen, instructors, judges and other professionals, including over 100 foreign pilots, sportsmen and working staff from nearly 30 countries.

Officials of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale and officials in charge of air sports in some countries will be present. Hundreds of associations, clubs and enterprises will also join the expo to conduct commercial activities.

The four-day expo includes seven flying shows, five competitions and six interactive activities, as well as music festivals, static displays and summit forums, an aviation event with an abundance of activities which will also be of the largest scale in China.

The static display contains both outdoor and indoor displays. The outdoor display covers an area of 60,000 square meters, displaying more than 200 types of aircrafts, and the indoor display area covers 20,000 square meters, providing booths for more than 100 aircrafts and equipment manufacturers and related institutions.

The outdoor display includes two zones, one in front of the tower and the other on the side of the general aviation avenue. It will showcase the most advanced and classic aircrafts from both home and abroad, including fixed wings, military aircrafts, business airplanes, and helicopters.

The indoor display sets eight zones for aeronautical equipment and outdoor sports equipment, aero sports experience and aviation science, aviation culture and products, aviation industry, flight camp and general aviation industry, paper plane displaying and skill teaching, comprehensive exhibition and RV camp.

Based on the WFE platform, the general aviation industry of Wuhan will be expanded and upgraded with an industrial chain to achieve a positive interaction between air sports and city development while serving as a model of win-win development.
