Updated: 2017-10-10

The first World Fly-in Expo (WFE) will be held at the Hannan General Aviation Airport in Hannan district, Hubei province, from November 4 to 7.

Officials inspecting and supervising the preparatory work of the event on Oct 10 included Hu Yabo, Party secretary of Hannan district and secretary of the working committee of the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, referred to as the WHDZ, and Peng Hao, chief of Hannan district.

Hu and Peng visited the temporary parking lot, the audience area, Shamao Avenue, General Aviation Avenue, the general airport and the aircraft display area.

With a total investment of 46.7 million yuan ($6.79 million), the airport includes a 1,714-meter road, a 957-meter general aviation avenue, and a 1,862-meter Shamao Avenue. The main parts, including the pavement concrete, sidewalks, non-motor vehicle lanes, and lighting of the three roads have been completed. Sixteen thousand parking spaces are under construction for vehicles and ferry buses, and are scheduled to be finished on October 25.

Hu and Peng affirmed the construction achievements, and expressed their hope that the general aviation industrial park and construction units will ensure the work is finished by October 25.

Hu stressed that the WFE has been meticulously organized by Wuhan to present the city’s image to the world. Relevant units and departments should further strengthen their consciousness and sense of responsibility, and grasp the details in construction.

He required that relevant programs should be improved and optimized to ensure the steady progress of the work.

Every construction project is now in its final stage. The tests on the 1,600-meter runway, taxi tracks, the tarmac, navigational lighting aids, the fire extinguisher system, and the renovation of terminal areas and a comprehensive building for the event have been completed.

Officials attending the inspection included Feng Aiming, Liu Mingli, Huang Yuanfeng and Dai Yitao.
