China unveiled on Monday a new package of measures to make tax refunds easier for foreign visitors, as Beijing seeks to stimulate inbound consumption and support the recovery of international travel.
Pursuant to Article 39 of the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China, where foreigners stay in hotels in China, the hotels shall register their accommodation in accordance with the regulations on the public security administration of the hotel industry, and submit foreigners' accommodation registration information to the public security organs in the places where the hotels are located.
In the first half of this year, China recorded 13.64 million visa-free visits by foreign tourists, a 53.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year. This reflects efforts to improve the travel experience, including updates to departure tax refund policies.

China has introduced a new policy that enables foreign visitors to claim departure tax refunds for purchases as low as 200 yuan ($27) per day at the same store, significantly reducing the previous threshold of 500 yuan.
To facilitate foreigners working and living in Guizhou, the Foreign Affairs Office of Guizhou Province, in collaboration with the provincial relevant departments and municipalities (prefectures), has compiled "A Guide to Working and Living in Guizhou as Foreigners".
