Huangpu 3A grade hospital gets expansion

The expansion project of the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University is scheduled to start on Dec 30 and be completed by June 30, 2029, with a total construction period of 1,643 days.

This expansion project will add 500 new beds, with a new total building area of nearly 100,000 square meters and a total investment exceeding 800 million yuan ($112.58 million).

Established in 1957, the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University is a directly affiliated hospital of Guangzhou Medical University. It is a Grade A tertiary comprehensive public hospital with numerous national-level honors and titles.

The hospital has multiple clinical key specialties and disciplines, along with national and provincial research centers dedicated to research innovation and elevating medical services.

The hospital has recently focused on establishing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Clinical Research Center to promote high-quality discipline development through research innovation. The hospital has become a significant clinical trial base for drugs and vaccines, with multiple research platforms and clinical trial expertise.

In the future, the hospital aims to create a clinical research platform that integrates research, education, talent development, and health prevention.
