The Huangpu Open Avenue project has been making significant progress, with the casting of the left side span closure section of Pier 14 of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Cross-Line Bridge recently completed. The project has now entered its final phase of construction.
This bridge, a challenging but critical engineering project, spans a total length of 1,020.37 meters, with nine spans and 26 piers, crossing the East Second Ring Expressway, Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway, and three municipal roads, making it the largest rigid frame continuous beam in Huangpu district.
The project consists of six closure sections, following a construction sequence of mid-span closure followed by edge-span closure. The recent closure marks the completion of the last closure section on the left side span.
The project's roads are now 89 percent complete, bridges 81 percent complete, power tunnels 96 percent complete, and landscaping 71 percent complete.
The Huangpu Open Avenue, as one of the main north-south arteries in Huangpu district, connects Guangzhou South Station and Panyu, Nansha and links economic platforms like the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City, Guangzhou Science City, and Guangzhou Maritime Silk Road City. It will become a crucial node for various resources, boosting development in the eastern part of Guangzhou.
The Open Avenue project is meant to alleviate the inconvenience of the narrow north-south connection in Huangpu and strengthen the district's external transportation links. It is very important to the enhancement of the district's overall urban strength.
