In the culturally vibrant Huangpu district, a unique martial arts treasure known as Dragon Form Boxing has thrived. Renowned in the martial arts world, Dragon Form Boxing is celebrated for its fierce and intricate techniques.
Dragon Form Boxing, a gem in Southern styles, traces its origins to the late 19th century and was developed by Lin Yaogui, also known as the "Tiger of Dongjiang". It has been passed down through generations for decades, with Master Zhou Zhenjiang being the third-generation inheritor. His dedication has led to Dragon Form Boxing being recognized as a Guangzhou intangible cultural heritage in 2022.
To promote and preserve this martial art, the Huangpu Dragon Form Boxing Association offers free classes, breaking traditional barriers and making it accessible to all. Master Zhou has also compiled a comprehensive manual of Dragon Form Boxing techniques, to ensure its legacy lives on. Dragon Form Boxing continues to be a vibrant and enduring symbol of Huangpu's cultural heritage through community engagement and educational initiatives.
