The signing ceremony.
Huangpu district in Guangzhou recently signed a cooperation agreement with Knowledge City Group and China Construction Eighth Engineering Division, marking the launch of China's first central-local government cooperative urban renewal project in 2023.
The Shuangsha Community Urban Renewal Project, part of the national strategy to upgrade urban villages, is expected to see an investment of approximately 29 billion yuan ($4.5 billion) and cover an area of 112 hectares, with completion slated for 2030.
Located in Huangpu's port economic zone, adjacent to the Pazhou Central Business District and the Guangzhou International Finance Center, the project aims to develop a comprehensive "International Innovation Hub" and "Lingnan Landscape Residential Area." It is set to bring substantial changes to the digital economy and the lives of locals.
The project is not only a milestone in Huangpu's high-quality growth but also a critical component of Guangzhou's development strategy for the eastern banks of the Pearl River. It also heralds a new era of development for the region, positioning it as a center for growth.
