Gao Yu, a brilliant first-year high school student from Yuyan High School in Huangpu district, Guangzhou, was the prototype behind the digital torchbearer of the 19th Asian Games.

During the opening ceremony of the Hangzhou Asian Games, a golden digital figure representing over 100 million digital torchbearers held a torch and ran across the venue to light the main torch tower together with the main torchbearer Wang Shun, a famous swimmer. It was a highlight of the opening ceremony.

Gao was chosen as the prototype because of his upbeat and athletic image as a member of the school's track and field team. He passed a rigorous selection and underwent a demanding filming process.

When recalling this experience, Gao feels nothing but pride. Although he didn't show his face throughout the process, being able to participate in the opening ceremony of the Asian Games in this unique way has made the experience truly precious for him.

In recent years, Huangpu's educational system has been developing strongly, with a focus on sports education. Yuyan High School, which has notable sports programs, has cultivated award-winning teams in track and field, football, basketball, and other sports, as well as top talent for the country's sports industry.
