Recently, three unicorn tech firms from Huangpu district, Guangzhou, made their mark on the national stage by entering the 2023 China Center for Information Industry Development's (CCID) Science and Technology Unicorns Top 100 list, demonstrating the district's thriving innovative prowess.
These firms include Aulton, a company specializing in new energy; WeRide, an autonomous driving company; and CanSemi, a semiconductor company. Each of these enterprises has gained significant technological advantages and market positions in their respective fields.
The list reflects the competitive strengths of unicorn companies in industries such as new energy and new energy vehicles, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence. The selected firms all have an average establishment period of less than six years, an average valuation of more than $2.6 billion, and an average patent application count of over 514.
In recent years, Huangpu has been deeply implementing an innovation-driven development strategy. It is also vigorously promoting strategic emerging industries such as biomedicine, integrated circuits, and new energy vehicles. It has attracted more than 40,000 technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and now boasts more than 3,500 high-tech enterprises.
Moving forward, Huangpu is committed to enhancing its innovation services and policies, to cultivate more tech unicorn firms.
