Guangzhou's city government promises to advance reform and opening-up in the months to come to build the southern metropolis into the best destination for investment and development for enterprises from around the world.
Lin Keqing, Party chief of Guangzhou, the provincial capital, said the city is sparing no effort to accelerate construction of a modern industrial system and further improve its core competitiveness through high-level opening-up.
"Guangzhou has built a big stage for companies from the rest of the world," Lin said at the opening ceremony of the ninth Guangzhou Annual Investment Conference China and Forbes China Venture Capital Forum in Guangzhou on Tuesday.
He urged investors and business representatives from around the world to seize the opportunities.
Lin promised that the government would provide even better services to support foreign companies to expand in the city.
Mayor Guo Yonghang said Guangzhou is going all-out to promote the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and to accelerate the city's industrial transformation and upgrading. Peter Lam Kin-ngok, chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, said as two core cities of the GBA, Hong Kong and Guangzhou can join hands to promote and accelerate the GBA in the months to come.
With the theme "Investing in Guangzhou is investing in the future", the two-day ninth Guangzhou Investment Annual Conference China included a plenary forum, 18 parallel sessions and eight preceding external sessions.
About 1,000 government officials, foreign consuls, experts, scholars, entrepreneurs and business representatives attended the event. They exchanged views on world and local economic development and sought more Sino-foreign exchanges and cooperation during the event.
