Since its establishment 13 years ago, China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC) has expanded from 123 square kilometers to 232 sqkm, with a planned population of one million and over 24,500 registered businesses that have a registered capital of nearly 624.8 billion yuan ($90.8 billion).
CSGKC has attracted 28 strategic scientists and over 1,300 high-level talents, ranking first in Guangzhou in terms of the total number of talents.
Over the past three years, the average annual growth rates for CSGKC's fixed asset investment, industrial output value, and actual use of foreign capital have been 19.94 percent, 50.92 percent, and 32.23 percent respectively, demonstrating its strong resilience and high-quality development.
CSGKC is not just an experimental zone or a functional area, but a national knowledge center with global influence. In 2020, the State Council approved the "Overall Development Plan of China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (2020-2035)", which positions CSGKC as a global knowledge center.
Guided by the plan, CSGKC is constantly enhancing its national-level platforms and visibility. It is accelerating the release of new energy as a source of innovation for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, while also operating as a new highland of knowledge creation. CSGKC is now entering a period of talent gathering as an international talent port, and opening up as a demonstration area for international cooperation.
However, the mission of CSGKC is not limited to this. Currently, China-Singapore relations have been elevated to a forward-looking partnership for high-quality development in all areas. Therefore, in planning its further development, CSGKC needs to not only consider historical and national contexts but also think globally as well.
CSGKC will drive high-quality development in Guangdong, become a source of innovation in key core areas, and a new hub for institutional opening-up and reform. Externally, it will become a more persuasive "window" for international cooperation and will represent Chinese-style modernization.
In the future, CSGKC will aim to create a new model of high-quality cooperation between China and Singapore, and they will work together to improve technological innovation and the scale of their modern industries.
