12 Guangzhou firms win national innovation accolade

Twelve firms in Guangzhou were recently rated as national technological innovation demonstration enterprises for 2022, with seven of them based in the Guangzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone.

This label refers to enterprises that have a strong ability to innovate technologically, those that have shown a remarkable performance in terms of innovation, as well as those that have played a leading role in key industries.

Evaluation indicators include their investment in innovation, talent bonuses, innovation cooperation, and technology reserves.

The outstanding achievements of Guangzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone in this field are due to its comprehensive scientific and technological innovation system, and policy support.

The zone's scientific and technological innovation index has ranked first among all national economic development zones for three consecutive years, with the zone's overall ranking jumping to fourth place nationwide.

The zone has gathered 1,000 scientific research institutions of various types. It now houses 50 percent of the province's high-level innovation research institutes, and half of Guangzhou's new research and development institutions. The zone has more than 3,600 high-tech enterprises and a sci-tech incubator area of more than 5 million square meters, making it the largest incubator cluster in South China.

The high-tech industrial park has introduced 111 academicians and gathered 1,307 high-level talents, ranking first in Guangzhou and becoming a national influential high-end sci-tech innovation resource-gathering venue.

In the face of a new round of sci-tech revolution and industrial transformation, the zone is focused on innovation. The average investment in R&D exceeds 6.14 percent, reaching an advanced international level.

Guangzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone has cultivated and incubated nearly 50,000 sci-tech enterprises, gathered more than 130 outstanding enterprises, and was approved as the first "small and medium-sized enterprises can do great things" innovation demonstration zone in China.

As a national innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration base, Guangzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone has issued preferential policies to benefit enterprises, including "10 articles of outstanding enterprises," "10 articles of talents" and "10 articles of intellectual property rights" to encourage and support enterprise innovation.

In the future, the zone will strive to establish itself as the main battlefield of Guangzhou's real economy and an engine of sci-tech innovation.
