Conference held in Huangpu to promote TCM innovation

Several biomedicine projects are under construction in Huangpu.

A conference aimed at promoting key technologies and equipment for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) was held in Guangzhou's Huangpu district on July 10.

TCM experts and representatives from universities, hospitals, research institutes, as well as biomedicine enterprises gathered in Huangpu to explore the innovative development of TCM.

The New Huangpu Joint Innovation Research Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine launched its research project of curbing the spread of COVID-19 through TCM at the conference. A number of TCM universities and their affiliated hospitals across China will join the program, striving to make breakthroughs in relevant technologies.

The plaque of Lianchuang Mingyi Hospital, which was established by the joint innovation research institute, was also unveiled at the conference. Featuring the integration of traditional Chinese medicine, Western medicine, and chronic disease management, the hospital will spare no effort to promote the collaborative integration and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine, information, as well as other disciplines.

Agreements on several TCM key projects, which involve TCM equipment development, health care for seniors, and weight management, were signed at the conference.

Huangpu district has been committed to building a world-class biomedical industry cluster with a focus on TCM industry.

At present, there are 21 TCM manufacturing enterprises with approved drug production licenses in Huangpu, accounting for one-third of the total number of Guangzhou. The revenue of the biomedicine industry in the district has exceeded 170 billion yuan ($ 25.31 billion), with 10 billion yuan from the TCM industry.
