Guangzhou's Huangpu district is moving forward with the construction of a batch of projects despite impacts of the current COVID-19 pandemic, local media outlets reported on April 19.
The groundbreaking ceremony of Yunzhou Biotechnology Research and Manufacturing Campus was held on April 7 and the project is expected to drive the development of Guangzhou's gene therapy industry chain.
The 3.2-billion-yuan ($499.1-million) project will have a floorage of 100,000 square meters and will be built in two phases over four years. Its first phase is expected to be put into operation in the first half of 2024 and the second half will be completed in 2026.
Once operational, the base will generate an annual revenue of more than 5 billion yuan.
The 885,900-sq-m Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Innovation Industrial Park will be built near Jiangjun Mountain at a cost of over 10 billion yuan. The agreement for the land purchase and storage was signed recently.
The park will attract digital economic industries and high-end headquarters from various enterprises in sectors such as strategic emerging industries and new infrastructure.
