Southern Metropolis Daily: Huangpu leads Guangzhou's fuel cell vehicle promotion

Huangpu district is playing a leading role in the compilation of the Guangzhou's Fuel Cell Vehicle Promotion and Application Plan (2021-25), according to Wu Jiefeng, deputy director of the Huangpu development and reform bureau.

Wu said at a seminar on Guangdong-South Korea hydrogen energy economy cooperation on Sept 14 that a total of 10,000 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will be promoted in the city over a four-year demonstration period.

As of now, the first 15 hydrogen fuel cell bus routes and 41 hydrogen fuel cell logistics vehicles have come into operation. The first 200 hydrogen fuel cell dump trucks will also be put into use this year.

As a national demonstration zone for the comprehensive new energy utilization, Huangpu will exemplify the application of 5,000 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, have a 50 billion yuan ($8 billion) hydrogen energy industrial scale and reduce carbon emissions by 500,000 tons by 2025.

To support that vision, the district released the 10 measures to support the development of the hydrogen energy industry in August 2019, and has so far given more than 12 million yuan of subsidies to hydrogen energy talents, technology and projects.

The version 2.0 of the 10 measures were released on June 12 with enhanced support in settlement and rent as well as construction and operation of hydrogen fueling stations. A hydrogen energy industrial fund of 5 billion yuan has also been set up.
