CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding is a large shipbuilding enterprise subordinate of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation.
The enterprise serves as a major production base for navy vessels, special engineering ships and offshore engineering projects in South China, and leads the country in the production of dredging vessels and feeder container ships.
It has a 700,000-square-meter plant on Changzhou Island in southeastern Guangzhou, which is in the same vicinity as the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center and the Whampoa (Huangpu) Military Academy. The plant is capable of building 30,000-dwt vessels for the military, public service, marine rescue and platform supply.
Located near Huangpu Port, its Wenchong plant covers 700,000 sq m in Guangzhou's Huangpu district. It is able to produce feeder container vessels with a maximum capability of 5,600 twenty-foot equivalent units, vessels below 70,000 dwt, and electromechanical equipment. Its main products include 1,700-TEU, 2,200-TEU, 2,500-TEU container vessels, and large and medium sized dredgers.
The third plant of the enterprise is located on Longxue Island of Guangzhou's Nansha district and holds a 100,000-dwt shipbuilding capacity. Its main products include 76,000-ton, 65,000-ton, 57,000-ton bulk cargo ships, 50,000-ton semi-submerged ships, 3,000-meter deepwater engineering survey vessels, underwater engineering work support vessels, and pipe-laying ships.
