Yuzhu taking on big role in Guangzhou AI, digital economy industries

The industrial guideline for Guangzhou's artificial intelligence and digital economy pilot zone was approved at an executive meeting of the municipal government on May 10.

It envisions Yuzhu in Huangpu district as a demonstration zone of China's Famous Software City, characterized by blockchains. In addition, the area is expected to push forward the integrated development of shipping, trade and digital economy relying on the Huangpu Port.

In terms of industrial layout, Yuzhu will develop 5G telecommunication and integrated circuit core spare parts, AI + software, information technology application innovation + blockchain and digital trade. It will become a national industrial base for high-end intelligent equipment, the industrial internet, high-end service, information technology application innovation and basic software.

Construction of industrial parks such as China Software CBD and China Game Software Valley is picking up pace. The former will bring in more than 500 enterprises and over 40,000 talents to generate an output value of 200 billion yuan ($31 billion) and a tax payment of more than 1 billion yuan.

AI and digital economy will take initial shape in Yuzhu by the end of 2022 and become new engines for high-quality development. By then the area will have more than 200 key enterprises, more than 50 of them leading in their fields. The operating revenue of core industries will exceed 50 billion yuan, and the value added of the digital economy will account for more than 50 percent of Yuzhu's GDP.
