Construction of the first overseas cooperative education project of the Singapore Hwa Chong family of schools is advancing smoothly at China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City in Guangzhou's Huangpu district.
With a total floorage of 100,000 square meters, the project covers 70,000 sq m north of Fourth Fenghu Road, west of Gaige Avenue and south of Zhishi Avenue. It will house teaching, administrative and dormitory buildings, a black box theater, a gymnasium, a natatorium, and a football field.

Construction is divided into two phases, each with 30 primary school classrooms, 15 middle school classrooms and 15 high school classrooms for 1,500 students.
The school's Bilingual Department will open next year, providing China's nine-year compulsory education to Guangzhou residents. Mandarin will be the primary teaching language, and will be supplemented by English teaching elements.
The International Department will target children of foreign expats by 2022, and offer international baccalaureate (IB) courses from primary school to senior high school. Singapore's IB curriculum teaching methods will be adapted to local students' learning conditions.
