The 2020 China Game Industry Annual Conference opened in Guangzhou's Huangpu district on Dec 17.
A 10-billion-yuan ($1.5-billion) Huangpu Intellectual Property (IP) Investment Fund was launched at the conference to develop innovative financial products that allow IP to be used for mortgage and equity investment.
The fund will be jointly operated by a dozen institutions and enterprises, including Guangzhou Cultural Financial Service Center, Huangpu Culture Group, and GDD Financial Holdings Group Co Ltd. It will further improve the financial chain for the development of the cultural industry, such as games and animation.
A cooperation agreement was signed between the Guangzhou Cultural Financial Service Center and the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication regarding the establishment of a Guangzhou IP Financial Service Center in Huangpu. The first of its kind in the country, the facility will be committed to policy research and platform establishment.
Starting in 2021, the Guangzhou Cultural Financial Service Center and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cultural and Creative Industry-Academia-Research Alliance will launch selections for game enterprises with the largest IP influence and brand value in the Greater Bay Area. Selected entrants will be presented awards and be offered equity investment or IP financial services.
