Guangzhou Daily: Huangpu valley recognized as Best Hydrogen Industrial Park

Hydrogen Valley of Guangzhou's Huangpu district was recognized as one of the Best Hydrogen Industrial Parks in 2020 during the Gaogong Hydrogen Power Annual Conference & Gaogong Golden Ball Awards Ceremony held in Shenzhen from Nov 25 to 27.

Huangpu is a strategic area in the blueprint of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to develop the hydrogen industry. It has been set as an innovation core zone in the Development Plan for the Hydrogen Industry in Guangzhou (2029-2030).

By attaching great importance to talent introduction and cultivation, Huangpu has attracted Ye Siyu, a member of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, to work full time in the district. It has also built a hydrogen innovation center with Guangzhou University.

In addition, local enterprises have forged partnership with the labs of Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Nanjing University, and South China University of Technology, while gathering more than 100 hydrogen professionals.

To date, Huangpu has brought in 20 projects, with a total investment of more than 4 billion yuan ($608 million), by renowned enterprises like SinoHyKey Technology, Hephas Energy, and More Hydrogen Technology.

A relatively complete hydrogen industrial chain has taken shape in the district, which covers fuel cell catalysts, proton exchange membranes, membrane electrodes, carbon paper, electric reactor systems, air compressors, hydrogen fuel cell test equipment, vehicle-mounted hydrogen systems, hydrogenation equipment, as well as entire vehicle equipment manufacturing and testing.

Released last year, the Methods for Huangpu to Boost Hydrogen Industry Development has provided the greatest support in the country for the entire industrial chain. For instance, a maximum award of 100 million yuan will be provided to the settlement of hydrogen R&D and industrialization.
