The poverty alleviation task force of Guangzhou's Huangpu district has helped a wide variety of agricultural products from Guizhou province find their way into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area market.
Huangpu has invested more than 32 million yuan ($5 million) since 2017 to assist Duyun city with infrastructure construction and help impoverished local households develop plantations and animal husbandry industries.
The mountainous Maojian town in Duyun is suitable for growing tea, but it is short of sales channels. Huangpu spent over 15 million yuan to help the town set up nearly 10,000 mu (667 hectares) of tea gardens, while building mountain roads and improving plantation technology.
In addition, Huangpu has helped more than 20 Duyun enterprises to promote their products in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
An agreement was signed between the Duyun government and the Guangzhou bureau of agriculture and rural affairs in May 2019 to establish a "vegetable basket" product distribution sub-center in the Greater Bay Area. Since 2019, a total of 20,700 tons of Duyun agricultural products worth 110 million yuan have been sold to Guangdong province.
