Guangzhou Development District has put an online command system for the prevention and control of pollution into operation to carry out 24-hour monitoring of pollutant sources, Nanfang Plus reported on June 2.

The system has been equipped with abundant environmental protection data analysis, early warning, and decision-making functions.

The seven subsystems of the system cover major areas in the prevention and control of pollution, such as air, water, and soil, making contributions to GDD's efforts for becoming a national demonstration area for ecological civilization construction.

"The monitoring system can show the real-time condition of the treatment to water and waste gas, as well as provide statistics to let us know the operation trends," said a staff member from Guangzhou Meadville Electronics Co Ltd, which has applied the system.

Being an industrial giant in Guangzhou, GDD clusters more than 40 percent of the city's industrial companies, yet the district has gained remarkable outcomes in achieving balance in both economic and ecological construction development.

The PM2.5 level and PM10 level in 2019 of GDD has decreased by 3.2 percent and 5.1 percent year-on-year respectively.

At present, the district has met the requirements in 32 indexes for becoming a national demonstration area for ecological civilization construction.
