Nanfang Plus: Huangpu bolsters local film industry development

Guangzhou's Huangpu district has been working on establishing a film post production center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, officials announced during a press conference held on May 27.

Zhou Chengjiu, general manager of Huangpu Culture Development Group, said that Huangpu has launched several preferential policies to support the development of the film industry and that its policy consisting of 10 measures on cultural innovation released last year has offered subsidies of more than 14 million yuan ($1.96 million).

Huangpu has been planning to construct a production base for 4K products, which has gained the joint investment from parties like Huangpu Culture Development Group, Guangzhou Digital Media, and Shaanxi Longshuo Culture. 

A business center will also be set up in Beijing featuring ultra HD films to carry out matchmaking activities with high-quality film resources from both home and abroad.

Covering an overall area of 5,800 square meters, the base in Huangpu is equipped with completed facilities for the production of 4K films, such as digital studios, HDR video halls, and equipment warehouses. 

In addition, two special funds will be set up in Huangpu to bolster the development of the local film industry.
