Guangzhou KingMed Diagnostics Group Co Ltd won the first prize of the 2019 Guangdong Technological Invention Award at the Guangdong Science & Technology Innovation Conference in Guangzhou on March 25.

The Guangdong Technological Invention Award is the top honor for sci-tech achievements in Guangdong province.

Established in 2003 and headquartered in Huangpu district, KingMed has been considered as the pioneer and leader of the independent clinical laboratories (ICL) industry in China.

KingMed's research in the innovation and massive application of core laboratory diagnosis technology for rare diseases has greatly improved the diagnosis level and efficiency for rare diseases.

Currently, KingMed has established an all-round technical platform featuring various functions, including gene and genome testing, metabolome and proteome detection, as well as cell and histopathological examination. The platform is able to offer efficient and accurate examination for 80 percent of genetic rare diseases.

KingMed has set up a sample library and database on rare diseases featuring about 70,000 positive cases, covering more than 2,100 kinds of rare diseases.

In addition to making great contributions to the diagnosis of rare diseases, KingMed has undertaken the great responsibility of nucleic acid virus detection in areas in Hubei, including Leishenshan Hospital in Wuhan.
