Guangzhou Daily: Huangpu company makes breakthroughs in making masks

A company based in Guangzhou's Huangpu district has applied a new technology in making masks, extending the use limit of disposable masks from four hours to more than eight hours, Guangzhou Daily reported on March 4.

The masks, which use new nanomaterials and microporous membrane technology, are of extremely high stability, as well as are waterproof, breathable, and resistant to high temperature.

"The filtering performance for individual particles as small as 0.3 microns in diameter is over 95 percent," said the person in charge of Weijie Big Health Industrial Development Company, which developed the new masks.

The person added that several technical indexes of the masks have gone over the standards for medical protection. It is expected that the new masks will be put into mass production in the near future.
