Huangpu's Tram Line 2, a north-south line in the southern part of Guangzhou’s Huangpu district, is expected to be put into full operation in 2022, Guangzhou Daily reported on Feb 28.
The new tram line, which integrates various functions such as business, living, commuting, and sightseeing, has been designed with a daily rush hour passenger flow of 4,000 people.
The whole line will span 14.4 kilometers and will set up 20 stations from Xiangxue Station to Nangang Station. The line will connect with Guangzhou Metro Line 6 and 13 to bring more convenience for local residents.
The project is the second tram project that Huangpu has conducted by applying a public-private partnership model to attract capital for investment and construction. The whole project, including the three-year construction, is expected to cost about 5 billion yuan ($716.36 million).
Construction on the tram line resumed operations on Feb 17 due to the Spring Festival and COVID-19 outbreak.
