Guangzhou Daily: Huangpu product for fast detection of virus enters market

The antibody detection kit for the novel coronavirus developed by Wondfo, a biopharmaceutical company based in Guangzhou's Huangpu district, has obtained its registration certificate from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) on Feb 22.

The product, along with another two produced by Beijing companies for the detection for the epidemic, was included in the first batch of products that was listed to enter the emergency channel for approval by the NMPA.

Wondfo's product for the fast detection of the novel coronavirus has become the first to be approved to enter the market in China.

The company has carried out cooperation with more than 10 major hospitals and relevant institutions in the development of the product, such as Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, as well as the Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health of the Chinese Academy of Science.

The detection kit has made breakthroughs in terms of places, users, and time, allowing people to get results quickly by the naked eye within 15 minutes, even faster than the national standard of 30 minutes.

The product is expected to be widely applied in the screening and pre-screening triage at medical service institutions at all levels.
