Sino-Ukraine innovation research institute to be set up in GDD

GDD signs a memorandum of cooperation with the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine on Jan 15.

Guangzhou Development District (GDD) has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine on Jan 15 to jointly build a Sino-Ukraine international innovation research institute in Guangzhou.

NAS of Ukraine, the top academic institution and the largest scientific research center in Ukraine, has made internationally outstanding outcomes in various areas spanning new materials, theoretical physics, electronic communications, welding technology, surface coating, and protection technology, as well as biotechnology.

The research institute will make full use of the advantageous resources from both China and Ukraine. It will work with high-level research institutes in Huangpu and about 10,000 technological companies to carry out cooperation in areas spanning advanced materials, the new generation of information technology, and life sciences. 

It is also expected to promote the transformation and application of technological outcomes from Ukraine, integrating Sino-Ukraine communication in talents and technology with the construction of the international technological innovation center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

GDD will further explore the establishment of a three-tier international coordinated innovation mechanism featuring research institutes, innovation centers, and companies.
