Blockchain technologies have been applied in various industries in Guangzhou, bringing convenience for local people, reported Xinkuaibao Newspaper on Jan 6.
China's first blockchain electronic invoice platform made its debut in Guangzhou Development District (GDD) in June 2018 and the country's first blockchain electronic invoice was released during the testing of the platform by Guangzhou Gas Group Co Ltd.
"Our company releases more than 7 million electronic invoices every month and staff members need to be assigned to follow the flow of these invoices, which is an enormous workload," said a person in charge of finance from Guangzhou Gas Group Co Ltd.
The person in charge noted that the burden on the company's finance department has been relieved as blockchain technology protects trade data.
A series of preferential policies covering various areas spanning companies, carriers, application scenarios, technologies, and talents to support the development of companies managing blockchain have been launched since 2017, investing about 88 million yuan ($12.66 million). Currently, GDD has clustered about 300 blockchain companies and 104 of them have been recognized.
The headquarters for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Block Chain Alliance was set up in GDD in November 2018, gathering about 55 major blockchain companies in the Greater Bay Area.
