Luogang Xiangxue Park is famous for its fragrant snow, owing to its long history of growing green plums. Luogang began its plum-planting history in the Song dynasty. Due to the unique natural conditions, plums can bloom twice each year, white and glittering. The plum trees span tens of miles, commonly known as "ten-mile Merlin". At the beginning of the year, the plum blossoms are in full bloom, wrapped in silver, and the white petals fall in the wind like snow with endless fragrance, creating “Luogang Xiangxue” (aromatic snow). In 1963, “Luogang Xiangxue” was named one of the Eight Views of Guangzhou.
Luofeng Peak has unique stones, flourishing trees, many fruit trees and beautiful scenery. At its foot, Yuyan College is adjacent to Luofeng Temple, which nestles against the mountain. In this temple, there is a collection of calligraphies and paintings by famous people such as Hairui, Zhuxi, Zheng Banqiao and Wen Tianxiang.
Luogang Xiangxue Park is generally divided into ten theme areas, including a special “Luogang Xiangxue” Area, a Religious and Cultural Area, a Four Seasons Scenery Area, a Guava & Rivers Area, an Imperial Seal Overlooking Area and a Hearing Birds Area. It is an ideal tourist resort featuring white plum blossoms in winter, red lichi in summer, and good weather in all four seasons.
