As the key infrastructure project of the 16th Asian Games, the Guangzhou International Badminton Training Center was completed in 2010. It is a badminton training and competition venue designed to hold the highest-level competitions of the Badminton World Federation. It is also the only badminton venue in the world which can also be used for other functions.
Besides being the venue for the 16th Asian Games, the center will also serve as a training and teaching venue for international badminton players. What's more, it is set to become the only training base of Guangzhou Yueyu Badminton Club, the only Guangzhou club in the Guangzhou Badminton Club Super League, and of professional badminton teams in Guangzhou and elsewhere in China and the world.
On March 18, 2011, the Guangzhou International Badminton Training Center venue was officially opened to the public. The Center will be the platform for international badminton exchanges, a training center for domestic badminton athletes and a leisure resource for residents of Luogang District and Guangzhou.
