A forum titled “Construction of Guangdong -Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area and Development Opportunities for Youth”, a parallel event of the 2019 Asia-Pacific Forum on Youth Leadership, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, was held on Nov 5 in Guangzhou.
The attendees were shown Huangpu District’s achievements in scientific and technological innovation, as well as its entrepreneurial friendly environment.
As the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area speeds up, Huangpu adheres to an innovation-driven strategy and remains devoted to offering a good business environment for small- and medium-sized enterprises and young entrepreneurs.
The Guangzhou Development District is an ideal choice for young entrepreneurs who have innovative ideas, technological competitiveness and are willing to work hard, according to Yi Xingzhou, a representative of young entrepreneurs attending the forum.
Yi pointed out that in particular foreign trade and advanced technology projects benefit from Guangzhou's opening-up policy.
The participants also visited an exhibition showcasing the latest scientific and technological innovations in Huangpu, such as robot arms, unmanned aerial vehicles and 5G technology.
Zhang Guangnan, director of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Development Research Institute of Sun Yat-sen University, analyzed the planning and development orientation of the Greater Bay Area from the perspective of global vision, national planning and regional development at a roundtable session.
Fok Kai-man, vice-president of Fok Ying Tung Group noted that the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area put a high value on the ecosystem for youth innovation and entrepreneurship.
He took the innovation and entrepreneurship base for Hong Kong and Macao youth as an example and proposed building such an ecosystem for Hong Kong and Macao youth in Guangzhou.
During a panel discussion, the guest representatives were divided into 10 groups for deliberations on innovation and entrepreneurship for youth in the Greater Bay Area and how to improve its organization.
After the session, each group presented their ideas and agreed that they have high hopes for the prospects of starting businesses in the Greater Bay Area.
They also expected simplified administrative approval procedures and better infrastructural facilities for private companies.
